What is a Load Backrest?
A backrest, also known as a load backrest or load guard, is an accessory attached to the carriage of a forklift. Its primary function is to prevent the load, especially when it’s elevated, from shifting or falling backward onto the operator’s cabin. The backrest extends above the forks and provides a physical barrier between the load and the operator. This feature significantly enhances the safety of forklift operations.
It’s particularly useful when moving unstable or loosely stacked items. While most forklifts come equipped with standard backrests, there are also customized versions designed for specific loads or operational environments.
